Target will be coming to Chili on land currently owned by Wegmans! It will be located just beyond the Travel Agency to the right of Wegmans (if you are standing on Chili Ave facing Wegman's). This supports the vision of a revitalized commercial core continuing Westward down Chili Ave.
This new location for Target is a direct result of the successful battle against the Mall on Paul, which appeared to have the backing of former Town Supervisor Tracy Logel but apparently was not supported by the rest of the Town Board and many Chili residents. Residents were told by Logel and the developer that Target would not consider any location other than the Paul Road site in an attempt to sway public opinion in favor of the project. But opponents remained united and a better location away from residential neighborhoods was selected by Target. And then David Dunning, a leader in the No Mall group, defeated Logel in the next election to become our new Town Supervisor. A great story with a happy ending (so far).
